Yearly on March 17, people globally observe St. Patrick’s Day; whether they are actually Irish, or just Irish-at-heart. Saint Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland. According to different versions of his life story, it is said that he was born in Britain, around 385 A.D. and when he was 14 years old he was captured and taken to Ireland. He lived there for 6 years as a slave herding sheep and then finally escaped and returned to his family. What began as a religious feast to remember the Saint, has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture. The program will be held at the Sabbath House on the property of the Franciscan Center.

The Franciscan Center is located on eight acres along the eastern banks of the Hillsborough River. The Center came to fruition as a result of the spiritually unique mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y. In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, we welcome everyone who seeks spiritual growth through a deeper relationship with God in a place of peace, community, healing and joy.
